January 2021 is complete, and for us at East Tennessee Pharmacy, it went out with a BAM! Bamlanivimab (BAM) is the monoclonal antibody used to treat active Covid-19 patients under the emergency use authorization. We are excited to see the impact this medication could have on our partner communities and residents.
This medication infusion calls for additional education for nursing staff and requires detailed monitoring of patients during/after it is administered. We are happy to report that our communities have seen positive results for residents who have received Bamlanivimab.
